Press Release: Suriyakantha Centre for Art and Culture Launches Its First Audioguide

Kandy, Sri Lanka — The Suriyakantha Centre for Art and Culture is proud to announce the release of its first official audioguide, now available in English and French.

This new companion offers visitors a distinctive way to experience the Centre:

  • Voices that bring heritage to life — the audioguide sets the context for the three-hundred-year-old walawwa, its singular collection, and its archives.
  • Step-by-step guidance — explore at your own pace, with clear interpretation, detailed insights, and little-known facts.
  • Exclusive access — revealing hidden stories and behind-the-scenes history of this eighteenth-century Kandyan ‘walawwa’.

This audio project, long envisioned by the late Dr. Jacques Soulié (1939–2025), combines rigorous historical research with rare archives that the founders Rohan de Silva (1950 - 2009) and Dr. Jacques Soulié  patiently gathered over the years. From these materials, the Suriyakantha conservation team has crafted an immersive narrative, offering visitors a truly memorable discovery experience.

We invite our tour-operator and guide partners to share this new experience with their clients and encourage them to discover Suriyakantha through this innovative medium.
